Protection from the elements

What is the first thing you think of when you think of the word, “homeless”? Probably of a human being who is uncomfortably cold, hot, or wet. Someone whose clothes and shoes are not enough to protect them from outdoor conditions 24/7. Well, that is the primary need that we are here to meet. It is a widely accepted fact that humans are unable to grow, develop, and meet secondary needs until primary needs are satisfied. This is the principle Jesus was illustrating when He told the parable of the Good Samaritan and finished, saying, “Which now of these three, think you, was neighbor unto him that fell among the theives? And he said, he that showed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do you likewise.” ~Luke 10:36-37

The shelter must have criteria for who we allow to share common spaces. Background checks will be done. Current drug usage will not be tolerated. Certain spaces will be allotted for each gender, with division of male and female and space limitations on capacity for each. But no criteria will ever include any factors of race or religion. We are a faith-based organization with a desire to extend outreach to people of all creeds.
